We’ve known since the Disney+ MCU show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, that Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is the new Captain America. Soon after that, we also found out that Sam Wilson will be getting his own Captain America movie, though other details were sparse. Recently, however, we’ve gotten some additional news about the fourth Cap film—Cloverfield Paradox and Luce director Julius Onah will be helming the upcoming MCU movie.
According to Variety, Onah has joined the project, which already had The Falcon and the Winter Solider’s head writer, Malcolm Spellman, on board to pen the script with another writer from the show, Dalan Musson.
When we last saw Sam Wilson at the end of the Disney+ series, he had taken on the Captain America mantle after veering away from it when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) gave him the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame. With two writers from Falcon and Winter Soldier attached to the movie, one can’t help but wonder whether any of the other characters from the series, such as Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker/U.S. Agent, Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter/Power Broker or Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, will make an appearance as well.
Right now who will be in the movie besides Mackie is anyone’s guess, as we don’t have any news yet on the official title of the film, much less when it will premiere in theaters. With San Diego Comic-Con happening in just a over a week, however, chances are high we might get more information sooner rather than later.
